Free Rose & Boat Party At The Inns Of Aurora (3:30 pm - 6:00 pm)
The Inns of Aurora to Host Summer-Long Complimentary Wine Tasting Series: Kickoff party will feature a variety of rose wines and boat tours Aurora, N.Y.—At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013, the Inns of Aurora will kick off their Taste of Summer series with a free lakeside rose tasting party. Mark Grimaldi of Bowler Wines will be pouring seven of the best roses of 2012 from around the world, and the Aurora Inn Dining Room will prepare accompanying fruit and cheese platters. Wines featured will include Eric Kent’s Rose Sonoma Coast and Bandol Rose IN MAGNUM! from Provence. The party also marks a strengthened partnership between the Inns of Aurora and Water to Wine Tours, captained by Skip Stamberger. Skip and his watercrafts will be on hand for complimentary boat tours of Aurora from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Throughout the summer, Skip’s charter will depart every night from the Aurora Inn dock for a two-hour dusk water cruise. Open to Inns of Aurora guests, this exciting package will include a picnic basket of house-made goods and dinner for two by sunset in the Aurora Inn Dining Room. Every other Wednesday throughout the summer, the Inns of Aurora will host a different local winery on its lakeside veranda for a tasting of their favorite varietals. A full schedule follows—each event is complimentary and open to the public. “The series is a great way for the Inns to play their part in introducing some of our favorite wineries to our neighbors and guests,” remarks Alex Schloop, organizer of the series. “I love when people stop by on their way home from work, or use it as a reason to get out of the house and join us for dinner afterwards.” A full list of the Inns of Aurora Taste of Summer series can be seen at innsofaurora.com/food-wine/epicurean-events. The Aurora Inn is located at 391 Main Street, Aurora, NY 13026. Reservations for Water to Wine tours departing from Aurora can be made by calling 315.364.8888. Skaneateles Historical Society Monthly Meeting (7:30 pm)
Come hear the Story of the Interactive Lake Model. We will talk about how the initial idea came about and each of the steps involved, from a search for a model builder, the design of the cabinetry, the design of the interactive interface, the wiring and the building of the software/hardware platform, and the development of the interactive content for the visitor. We will show some of the model's point-of-interest stories, and a couple of the ancillary stories that are available on the model's trackpad.  One of these tales recalls the glory days of the Skaneateles steamboats and how they brought the entire lake community together by linking the cottages and landings with public transportation, freight and mail, in addition to bringing tourists to the Glen Haven Water Cure and other attractions. This will be a fun and enlightening program, guided by Dave Miller, our Board Member who has played a key role in the implementation of our newest  and quite popular display.  Please join us at 7:30 at The Museum at The Creamery.
