Skaneateles Historical Society Monthly Meeting (7:30 pm)
Come hear the Story of the Interactive Lake Model. We will talk about how the initial idea came about and each of the steps involved, from a search for a model builder, the design of the cabinetry, the design of the interactive interface, the wiring and the building of the software/hardware platform, and the development of the interactive content for the visitor. We will show some of the model's point-of-interest stories, and a couple of the ancillary stories that are available on the model's trackpad. One of these tales recalls the glory days of the Skaneateles steamboats and how they brought the entire lake community together by linking the cottages and landings with public transportation, freight and mail, in addition to bringing tourists to the Glen Haven Water Cure and other attractions. This will be a fun and enlightening program, guided by Dave Miller, our Board Member who has played a key role in the implementation of our newest and quite popular display. Please join us at 7:30 at The Museum at The Creamery.
