Buy Local....It Pays

Buy Local....It Pays!

Here is why:

1.  Buy Local - Support Yourself:  Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned business, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses.  73 cents of every dollar spent locally stays within the community.  Whereas only 43 cents of every dollar spent at a national chain stays within the community.

Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles

Dickens Christmas logo 24th 2017 002

Step back in time and enjoy the holidays the old-fashioned way with Dickens Christmas, as Skaneateles Area Businesses give a gift to the public for their continued support throughout the year. Plan now and visit the Village of Skaneateles, located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, this holiday season.

PARKING
Paid parking is available in the municipal lot between Jordan and State streets; free parking is available in the lot adjacent to Ace Hardware/Skaneateles Town Square on Fennell Street and at the Austin Park Pavilion, at the corner of Jordan and Austin streets. A horse-drawn wagon will shuttle between both locations and the village. Tickets for the shuttle, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., are $2 per person each way, $10 per family (maximum of six people). Shuttle riders will receive a coupon for a free holiday ornament from the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce.

For more information on Dickens Christmas call (315) 685-0552, or follow the event on Facebook (Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles and/or Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce).

Skaneateles Foundation Community Docks

skanfoundationThey offer access to the lake—our most precious resource. They provide “parking” for boaters, who then shop at village stores and dine at village restaurants. They make the Antique and Classic Boat Show possible.

But, after serving us faithfully for 20 years, they need to be replaced. With your assistance, the Skaneateles Foundation is poised to buy, install and maintain new seasonal docks that will preserve the quality of life we’ve come to enjoy.
