Founded in 1983 by the late Howard Kelley and his wife Gayle, the Skaneateles Community Band continues to provide summer concerts in the park for Skaneateles residents and visitors.
The band has grown in size and talent and is now recognized as one of the outstanding community bands in the area. The Skaneateles Community Band performs on Friday evenings during July and August in a Norman Rockwell setting at the gazebo by Skaneateles Lake. The music ranges from pop to marches to show tunes to light classical. The band also plays concerts at the NY State Fair, the Skaneateles Rotary Club Father's Day Pancake Breakfast, the Skaneateles Dicken's Christmas event, and other venues in upstate NY.
The band's musical director, Dr. Philip Krasicky of Cornell University, welcomes musicians to come to rehearsals from April through June on Wednesday evenings and in July and August on Monday evenings at the Skaneateles High School band room. Contact the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce for more information.
Come and enjoy Americana at its best -- an old fashion concert in the park on the lake while relaxing to a variety of beautiful music!
