Forest Therapy Walk at Baltimore Woods

Forest Therapy Walk at Baltimore Woods

12/02/2023 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Experience nature in a unique way on a guided Forest Therapy Walk throughout Baltimore Woods! Forest Therapy, also known as “forest bathing,” stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku. Led by June Leo-Randazzo, a Certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide, this program invites participants to immerse themselves in nature and open their senses to the surroundings of the forest.

During this slow, mindful, and quiet walk, June will provide a series of relaxing invitations to engage all your senses, release your mind chatter, and deepen connections to nature, allowing you to connect with yourself and others through nature in new ways. You will have opportunities throughout for both individual reflection and to come together as a group to listen and share what we are noticing. The 2.5 hour walk ends with a tea ceremony with wildcrafted tea foraged from the area and snacks.

This walk is designed for ages 14 and up. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

(Auburn, NY— November 15th, 2023) - Presented by Auburn Public Theater. Thursday, December 21st: Show begins at 7:00PM, doors open at 6:00PM.

Make Music Winter: A Community Holiday Sing-Along: After years of spontaneous musical merriment on June 21, the spirit of Make Music Day has come to visit on December 21, the winter solstice. Join Auburn Public Theater’s After School Music and Film Program Staff for an evening of winter and holiday sing-alongs! Ukuleles, guitars, percussion instruments, and lyrics/tabs will be available for everyone.

For Make Music Winter, music will pop up in the form of a holiday sing-along in Auburn Public Theater's Stage Right area. Last year, 31 cities joined the party. We hope you join us in lifting up our voices on the coldest day of the year, embracing the closeness of commuity and the peace of the evening. This is the sixth nationwide Make Music Winter celebration will take place on December 21, 2023. Whatever your wintertime musical dreams, anything is possible. And all of it is free, joyful, and profoundly participatory.

Make Music Winter is presented by The NAMM Foundation.

Sketching Nature Series: Discovering Winter Weeds

12/08/2023 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Central New York becomes a world of grays and browns during the winter, but we can still appreciate the beauty of winter weeds long after their greenery has faded. Join us for a walk around our meadows to find and identify winter weeds. We will learn about how they provide food and shelter for wildlife. Then, we’ll bring some clippings back to the nature center where we can sketch them and study them further.

This program is designed for ages 16 and up. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. Drawing materials will be provided. This program will take place on difficult terrain with uneven surfaces in a meadow.
